Toyota Tacoma reviewed

The second-generation Tacoma is a mid-size pickup truck. It had a long life and was sold from 2005 to 2015. Toyota has a reputation for great reliability, and the second-generation Tacoma is no different. It is undoubtedly one of the best mid-size pickups out there. So what are the key features of the second generation Toyota Tacoma?

Tacoma is known for running millions of miles without breaking a sweat, so it continues to have value in the used market.

There are 3 different cab options for the second-generation Tacoma. There are standard cabs, arrival cabs, and double cabs. The name can be intriguing compared to the Toyota Tundra variant. The entrance cabin is considered by many to be an “extended cabin”, with a smaller seating area and a door that opens outward.

Tacoma bed length options

The plastic (not metal) beds on all second-generation Tacomas come in two sizes: short (5 feet) and long (6 feet). Bed straps are rated up to 220 lbs.

The regular cab was only available with a short bed, while the entry cab was only sold with a long bed. Two rooms offered a choice of a short or long bed.

Tacoma 4×4 system

The second-generation Tacoma is available in 2WD and 4WD models. 4WD versions work like Toyota’s other trucks (and sometimes share parts).

The group has 3 settings on the tube: H2, H4, and L4. This translates to 2WD, 4 Hi, and 4 Lo. The operation of these options is slightly different. To change from 2WD to 4Hi, shift it to where you want it (provided you don’t exceed 60 mph).

Can switch from 4Hi to 2WD in any gear. It’s a good idea to take your foot off the accelerator more often to reduce the load on the drivetrain.

The Tacoma certainly won’t be mistaken for a hybrid and is more fuel efficient than the Tundra. EPA fuel economy estimates are as follows:
